Ann McDonald

On Saturday, we received the heartbreaking news that our dear friend and colleague, Ann, had passed away after a short illness while visiting her daughter in Spain.

Ann has been a cherished part of the Student Programmes Ireland family since 2018, working as a local coordinator in Co. Mayo. Over the years, she cared for countless students with warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication. Ann had a rare gift for making everyone feel at ease — her students, host families, and schools all adored her.

She brought joy into every interaction, and her thoughtfulness was felt in the smallest gestures — like the lasagnes and chocolate cakes she lovingly made for students’ birthdays. Those simple acts of care spoke volumes about the kind of person Ann was generous, loving, and deeply compassionate.

To her beloved husband James, her daughters Kathryn and Alison, and her precious grandchildren Emma and Obadiah — our hearts are with you. Please accept our most sincere and heartfelt condolences.

Ann touched many lives, and her absence will be felt deeply. The world is a little dimmer without her light.

Always in our thoughts,
Bernie, Joe, Ciara, Bridget & Linda & all the SPIL team.
